"For many decades we have nourished this dream to establish an undersea colony. But regardless of the goal, we have also learned though many expeditions that it is never the goal for which we live day to day. But instead it is the journey that makes up the whole of life. That journey, those collective daily expeditions are almost all that we focus on – our crewmembers are our family in this and for them no sacrifice is too great, there is no sorrow or load we will not share with them and we would gladly give it all up for even one of them along the way. Since the journey comprises 99 percent and the destination only a single point at the end, we have discovered that we live by two principles day by day: integrity and honesty. It is on these two we stand or fall. Either way, we are a family that sticks together as tightly as any in the flesh. Regardless of where we end up on the last expedition of the final day, we will at least be able to say together that here there was respect and love not only for the goal but nearly all of it was focused on this fantastic undersea family."
Our family-team is composed of some of the most accomplished and competent undersea and space explorers of the 21st century. We have more certified aquanauts with more logged undersea time living and working beneath the sea than any other project in history. Our team consists of habitat designers and builders, submarine systems engineers, nuclear engineers, space system engineers and designers, astronauts, scientists, engineers of many kinds, environmental specialists, professional journalists, psychologists, Hollywood producers, teachers and educational specialists. We hold many world records in undersea duration and excursion depth. In short, we have assembled the critical mass of both intellect and accomplished expertise to establish the first permanent undersea colony in history.
The formal, legal process of establishing our organization began with the family of Dennis and Claudia Chamberland in late September of 1990. It immediately grew to include Joseph M. Bishop who came onboard as the Chief Engineer. Other members were added over the years, but the project has always been a family affair which includes each of its members in the family called the League of the New Worlds - a legally incorporated organization that makes everything happen. LNW is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization that manages the resources of the various expeditions and projects. LNW's fundamental purpose is to permanently settle the uninhabited regions of the oceans gaining an experience base that may be utilized to spin off related technologies. LNW forms the organizational machinery and backbone that empowers all our activities and expeditions. But all of us, from flesh and blood family to crewmembers, make up the close knit, self dependent and reliable family of LNW and all her expeditions, which is why we can say with all confidence:
We are a family. But we are no ordinary family.
